WHAT IS KUNDALINI YOGA?
“The chaos of information in the
computer age will make it difficult for people to cope
with their day to
day lives. The body, mind and spirit will have to be organised
to meet these natural phenomena.
Every human, no matter what their religion,
will face a reality in the future where they will need
a strong,
healthy nervous system. They will need mental clarity and
the back-up of spiritual strength to face this coming world.” Yogi
Bhajan – Master of Kundalini Yoga
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
It promotes a general feeling of relaxation and well-being
by balancing the glandular system, strengthening the nervous
system, promoting emotional balance and enhanced intuition;
allowing us to harness the energy of the mind and the emotions
so we can be in control of ourselves rather than being
controlled by our thoughts and feelings. It helps to eliminate
negative habits increasing our radiance and the impact
we have on others.
WHAT HAPPENS IN A KUNDALINI YOGA CLASS?
We begin by “tuning in” with a short mantra.
Then we start with some warm up exercises and follow this
with a Kriya – a Yoga set of exercises for a specific
purpose. This includes stretching and moving exercises
with breathing patterns and sometimes chanting of mantras.
Mantras may seem strange at first. They set up sound vibrations
in the body which in the long term has a positive effect.
We finish with relaxation and/or meditation.
The information presented in class is for general knowledge
and not as medical advice.
You may like to bring a mat or something to work on and
also a blanket to keep warm during relaxation or meditation.
Wear loose comfortable clothing, bring water to drink and
avoid eating a meal for about 2 hours before the class.
Light, energy giving snacks before class are fine.
TEN
BODY YOGA
You may believe that you have one body to care for so it may surprise you to know that you have ten bodies. We are all aware of our physical body. The other nine bodies are the soul body, the three mental bodies (negative, positive and neutral mind), the arc line, the aura, the pranic body, the subtle body and the radiant body.
For us to be healthy and feel connected to ourselves and others we need these ten bodies to align and harmonize with one another. When they do we feel in tune with ourselves and in harmony with others.
To achieve this state of harmony and balance we offer an individualized programme for you to work with and with support whilst you are actively working with the programme that has been selected for your benefit.
Numerology
To link your programme we start with your individual blueprint and this began on the day, date and year of your birth.
This allows us to use a method that will be explained to you in your programme and gives us a base to work with to find what yoga kriyas and meditations you need to discover your true potential as you begin this journey of self discovery.
Ayurveda
To enhance your individual lifestyle we add the extra ingredient of your dosha
type according to the ancient practices of ayurveda. Used for thousand of years
in India before doctors and scientists it teaches us how to restore and maintain
the natural balance of mind and body.
When all our energies are balanced we realise our own unique state of health
and happiness promoting a sense of well-being.
BREATHING AWAY DEPRESSION
Join in a regular weekly class beginning on Tuesday
24 February 2pm – 3pm in The Crystal Room with
Siri Nirankar (£8).
Please bring something to sit on, a blanket, and water
to drink
Depression is when we lose connection to our
inner selves, our sensory system and we can feel isolated and
alienated from
others. Many of us during our lives experience these feelings and the
class is to help anyone reconnect with the true core of the self.
Yogi Bhajan who brought Kundalini Yoga to the
West in 1969 wanted us all to be happy and one of his core
messages was; “It
is not the life that matters, it is the courage we bring to the
life that matters.”
We will be using breath and pranayama to unblock tensions whether
these are held in the body or the mind and sometimes both. When
we connect to our breath we begin to calm and soothe our nervous
and glandular system and bring about a sense of well-being and
with regular practice we begin to experience a change deep within
the self helping us to be more self confident.
